When someone sends me an email and then shuts their email down...?

Okay, here's the scenario...

You've had a "difference of opinion" with another Y!A user.

You find in your email an email from this user.

They say some nasty things, or incorrect things, in it, and you wish to email them back.

The message says "Reply to this email"... you click on the link, and it goes to their profile which says that they do not allow emails.

That means that they sent you an email and then SHUT DOWN their emailing capacity so you are unable to respond.

HERE'S MY QUESTION.....

When someone DOES this "shut down" WHY can't Yahoo allow it to be "over-ridden"... at LEAST for "one last time" (so to speak) to allow for a reply? Afterall... the initial email was "unsolicited." Wouldn't it at least be FAIR to allow one to respond to it if they so desire?

When someone sends me an email and then shuts their email down...?
An interesting question, but by asking this question you've alerted the person bothering you that you were annoyed by what they did. In essence, you let him/her "win," the same way that replying to the email would let him/her "win."
Reply:Hi there!

In an ideal world, yes. But we were warned of this when

WE, the nice ones, chose to keep our e-mail open.

They, the 'nasty' know what they are doing.. It's

cowardly, really.

First of all, IF this person has said something to you

in the e-mail that is over-the-top nasty, offensive, or they're

being threatening, harassing, you CAN report them.

This happened to me once, and the person was autom-

atically removed. (They were really 'losing it' in their

nasty e-mails to me)! On "Reality Shows"! sheesh.

Also, Block this person, and now. This will prevent

them FROM a continued harassment, should they wish

to do so.

We can't always read the minds of others, especially in

this sterile, anonymous world.

Here's the link and good luck! :)
Reply:Of course those are the kinds of gutless people who do not have their email option open. That is a good suggestion, you should try posting it in the suggestions forum(although they probably wouldn't do it because it makes sense) but you should give it a shot. I support your suggestion.
Reply:Man I wished I knew the answer to that.
Reply:It WOULD be ideal, but probably too much work for Yahoo to swing it.

At least try to take comfort in the fact that you're a better person than the jerk -- you wouldn't similarly "hit %26amp; run" someone.
Reply:This type of activity (I have had it happen) is nothing different from the "School boy" who Hits someone and then runs like hell to stand behind the teacher so that they won't get hit in return.

They know they are wrong so they just "Hit and Run" Just plain "Cowards" Ignore them they are not worth the time of day. No need to respond to them because they already know they are wrong but won't change things a bit.

When I grew up in Wyoming there was a saying:

"A man convinced against his will is of the same opinion still" That applies to both Men and Women. Don't waste your time on them!

Reply:I agree that you *should* have been allowed to reply to your basher. An exemption should be made just for this purpose.

I was bashed once, right there online. I had no recourse. I simply had to delete my answer.
Reply:Wyomugs:

Well, in his/her defense (playing devil's advocate), I would have to admit that I, also, would be in dire fear of your impending retalitory rebuttal; and would likely close the gates to my fort before any casualties could occur!

"E-mail-attacking" Wyomugs reminds me of the sage advice once given to Gen. Custer...
Reply:I can see why you would be upset at that type of email. they seem to have taken the cowards way out. when people feel out of control they try to "take" control , sometimes in the wrong way I guess in their mind it's a way of having power over someone but evidently not their own bad manners. I don't know how the tech. part could work. But remember what they day...Time wounds all heels. Peace to all Evie
