Disturbing Email,?

Someone I know received a disturbing email,it stated someone they knew what to kill them. And if he wanted to know who just pay certain amount of dollars, and as result of payment they would stay alive, also they would give them who wanted them dead. Ok, what should this person do, and how does this person find out who sent this disturbing email. It also stated in the email if this person did not respond they would do the job. How would this person figure out who sent this email.,and who do they need to contact in law enforcement.

Disturbing Email,?
Call the FBI or the police don't be nervous about it, just call them and tell them what you recieved in your e-mail. And maybe an agent or a detective will come by and look at it.
Reply:The "someone you know" should start by involving the local police, they might know if this is a wide-spread scam!

If it isn't ... the email could be backtracked to a specific person! Case closed, perp in custody!

Let's assume that the perp has more than one functional brain cell! Untraceable email, no suspects! We go to the next level ... the FBI! This becomes a terroristic threat investigation! The FBI would take the investigation from there ... and with your minimal assistance would take the suspect into custody
Reply:If it's clearly to that individual (not just random mass scam emails), I'd contact the closest FBI office.
Reply:Without a doubt, this someone should go to their local police department immediately. This clearly sounds like a con job. The person who sent the email is trying to blackmail (extort money from) the recipient. Probably it is a poor, totally mad excuse for a joke but it needs to be taken seriously. Don't waste any time going to the police.
Reply:A friend of my wife has also recieved this letter. Someone you know wants you killed but if you pay this "killer" a few thousand dollars he won't kill you and will tell you who hired him? Sound like a scam.
Reply:pretend you believe it... tell them you'll cash deposit the funds and ask them for their bank account number... give the account# to the cops.
Reply:CALL THE POLICE! They're the only ones qualified to start an investigation. They'll know who to find to start looking for who sent the e-mail.
Reply:Ignore it. It's a total scam. Call the cops, if you're really worried, but don't send any money.
Reply:Interesting situation. I would make a copy of the email and head down to my police station and see what they'd advise. They may have your friend try to trace it back(not being a computer whiz I don't know if this is possible) or contact your Internet server and see what they can do. I am sure in this age of terrorism %26amp; threats of harm that something would be suggested. Have your friend make an extra copy and he /she could contact the FBI for general information (after they have done something with their local police first) or precedures to follow. People are stupid these days, and whether they mean it as a joke or not...have to be held responsible for their actions. I would definetely not ignore it. Guard Dog
