Is there any kind of email system, platform or software that prevents recipients from forwarding emails?

Many have had the unfortunate experience of an email that they sent in private to one individual, being forwarded to others who were not the intended recipients. Many times there are unfortunate reverberations from this, particularly when the information transmitted was sensitive and not meant for anyone else but the original recipient.

One can try to post legal warnings in their email that this is not to be forwarded without the express permission of the author.

But from a technology standpoint, is there an email solution that would absolutely PREVENT a recipient from electronically forwarding an original email they received so that it could only be viewed by the intended recipient or at least via the email inbox with the appropriate password for access to that inbox?

One can always copy an email and send it out in a completely separate transmission. But I'm curious if there is an email innovation to prevent electronic forwarding of original transmissions.

Hopefully the people you know wouldn't go against your wishes. Simply put in the heading "For your eyes only" and they shouldn't do anything stupid with the information.

But no, you can't stop someone from forwarding an email. Even if you could stop them from "forwarding" the email, they would still be able to copy and paste the information into a new email and send it that way.

If you're at all worried about the information being given to the wrong people, then i wouldn't tell anyone at all. You can't control what they do with the information. They could even tell people in conversation. Once the information is out there, you just have to trust them.
