My email account appears to have disappeared. What happened? I need to recover it.?

I was using a yahoo email account to help email old classmates about a reunoin. About 12 hours after I sent out an email to about 120 people, my account just disappeared. I can't sign in at all so I even tried sending an email to that yahoo email address. It came back with a fatal error with no known account. I'm thinking that one of the recipient email servers may have sent back an automated Spam warning since the original email was sent to so many people. Does Yahoo automatically shut down a site that is reported as a Spam site? If it does, can it be recovered? How do I recover the email address?
